The WG »Urban Rehabilitation and Ecological revitalisation« tackles the potentials and chances of the built-cultural heritage (buildings, urban spaces, monuments) for the revitalisation of historical towns.

There are four main topics of the WG:

  • Improving the attractiveness of the "old town" and urban spaces by using the built-cultural heritage
  • Raising the awareness for the value of the built-cultural heritage within inhabitants and key-actors
  • Involvement of private resources in the rehabilitation process
  • Improving the ecological renewal of technical infrastructure and strengthening the ecological functions of green areas

Local activities

Local activities focus on the development of rehabilitation standards for the social careful renewal of historical buildings, setting up guidelines for the ecological renewal of historical buildings, developing incentives for private actors to revitalise their courtyards, improving the illumination of historical quarters and monuments, considering ecological aspects and a training program for the preservation of the built-cultural heritage .
