The WG »Socio-economic Revitalisation« focuses on the economic revitalisation of historical towns and its social impacts.

Topics

They will analyse what can be done to:

  • guarantee a sustainable balance of functions for the socio-economic development of historical towns
  • develop tourism in historical towns
  • develop the retail & service sector
  • use the housing sector to support the local economy and social disadvantages groups

Socio-economic instruments will be examined to foster 

  • Private involvement (e.g. PPP; city centre alliance)
  • Inhabitant participation (e.g. balancing the different interests and needs)
  • Cross-sectoral and spatial integration (e.g. cooperation of different public organisations with economic enterprises and NGOs)

Local activities

Local activities deal in particular with the analyse and development of aid factors to support commercial and tourist activities in historical quarters, e.g. with the development of a city marketing strategy together with local key-actors, by setting up local historical tourists routes and guidance systems, through the use of ICT-means and by supporting business start-ups and a relocation management.

  • Development and presentation of ICT Good Practice Cases in the promotion of cultural tourism as basis for the base-line study by Salzburg
