Sopot is located in the centre of the Gda_sk agglomeration. Since 1997 it has a Spa status with 2 Mio. tourists coming every year. Its build-cultural heritage is the longest wooden Pier in Europe (511,5 m), the historical Forest Opera ( 4.000 spectators), the Medieval city remnants „Grodzisko" (open air museum), the historical horse racing course and more than 1000 unique historical mansions and tenement houses.

Sopot

Within Hist.Urban the municipality of Sopot will

• elaborate a development plan for the historical area around the railway station, testing participatory methods during the planning process with the aim to facilitate the implementation of results;
• develop standards for the social careful renewal of historical buildings/ quarters involving affected actors to support a a healthy social mixture and counteract gentrification processes after the renewal.
