Graz was founded in 1230, but already 500 years before a settlement existed. Graz belongs to the UNESCO world heritage since 1999 and was cultural capital of Europe in 2003.

Within Hist.Urban Graz will elaborate a study for the urban and ecological renewal of historical towns. They will develop incentives for private actors (inhabitants, house owners) to revitalize their rear courtyards by implementing an idea competition and elaborating adequate instruments, involving local actors. The results will be implemented in an urban renewal pilot project.
