Objective
Historical towns in the CADSES area are facing due to a rapid
social and economical transformation process an accumulation of
economical, social and ecological problems.
The main objective of Hist.Urban is to strengthen small and medium
sized historical towns, using the built-cultural heritage as a
development factor for an integrative, sustainable urban development.
The actions and networking within Hist.Urban are supposed to

- strengthen the urban economy and social and ecological functions and qualities in the project partner towns,
- rehabilitate and valorise the built-cultural heritage,
- improve the capacity of local and regional professionals as
decision-makers to apply integrated and implementation-orientated
revitalisation approaches and instruments and
- sensitise the project partners and a wider professional public
for the value of the built-cultural heritage
as a development factor
and element of cultural identity.
Results
Hist.Urban strives to
- develop and implement integrated and practice-orientated
revitalisation approaches and instruments (concepts, plans, studies,
guidelines, pilot projects, processes), combining the urban development
with the promotion of the built-cultural heritage;
- mobilise local actors, essential for the implementation of urban
renewal measures, in particular private actors, to coordinate, promote
and facilitate the implementation of future investments;
- exchange experiences, transfer know-how and network together,
assisting the project partners in their (future) revitalisation
attempts;
- elaborate a base-line-study and a transnational manual serving as
a guideline for integrated and practice-orientated revitalisation
approaches and actions for historical towns, giving advice to
interested parties.

Thus, the project will contribute to strengthen the urban functions,
economies and qualities of the participating cities and promote an
integrated sustainable urban renewal and polycentric urban settlement
structure in the CADSES area, using the built-cultural heritage . Another effect will be the improvement of the capacity of local and
regional professionals and decision makers concerning the integrated revitalisation
of historical towns.
